Zak Hardaker took another step towards Salvation on Monday when he was named to Papua New Guinea and New Zealand.

The Leeds and Castleford full-back, who wasnt in both of those England or Great Britain performance squads announced earlier in the season by coach Wayne Bennett, was the surprise inclusion in his 24-man party.
As expected, Bennett has chosen all 3 players that qualify during the grandparent principle and also have demonstrated their desire to play for their country in the Test matches against New Zealand, Tonga and Papua New Guinea.
Theyre full-back Lachlan Coote (St Helens) and also half-backs Blake Austin (Warrington) and Jackson Hastings (Salford), that were all short-listed for its Man of Steel award obtained by Hastings following hugely-impressive first complete seasons at Super League.
Scotland has been represented by coote and the return of Great Britain has paved the way for Ireland international Joe Philbin, the Warrington ahead, to push his way after St Helens ahead Morgan Knowles was ruled out through injury in but theres no Welsh participation.
Saints captain James Roby is another injury absentee while his club Grand Final triumph over Salford arrived at a substantial cost, with center Mark Percival (rib) and winger Tom Makinson (shoulder) sustaining accidents that cost them places in the group.
Bennett said:It was pretty tough really, with a lot of players . A few guys got injured and thats taken a little bit of the pressure off and contributed a couple of guys opportunities.
I think weve got a pretty good squad which is more than just agent of the best players at the sport in England and Australia.
With a multitude of alternatives that were full-back, Hardakers flexibility clearly helped him to get the nod ahead of Sam Tomkins, whos one of those gamers on stand-by from the England squad in Sydney.
Ironically, Hardaker, who turns 28 was that the man chosen by Wigan to substitute Tomkins as he set off to the path to redemption.
Hardaker was the best player in Super League if he was crowned Man of Steel but his frailty was subjected two years before when he had been thrown from Englands World Cup squad for a violation of discipline.
Released by Leeds , after testing positive for cocaine, he looked to have got his career back on track if he played a crucial part in Castlefords run to a maiden Grand Final at 2017 but had been suspended.
After serving a ban, the Hardaker was given a lifeline from Wigan simply to be detained for drink-driving during training.
However, his new club stood by him after he agreed to go through rehab that included a trip to the Sporting Chance clinic and that he was definitely and arguably their greatest most consistent player in 2019.
Bennett has named former St Helens prop James Graham in the absence of Sam Burgess and Sean OLoughlin as expected.
Bennett explained:No-one plays with more pride and passion since he does for his country, I will inform you.
Graham, 34, is the only member of the squad with previous experience of playing for Great Britain, with won five caps out of 2006-7, and using a record 44 England appearances, is set to bring up a half-century of caps against Tonga in Hamilton on October 26.
It is very emotional for me, said Graham, wholl direct Great Britain for the first time after formerly captaining England. It is going to have history and heritage and its something which resounds with all the fans and our sport.
Theyre four incredibly hard matches but the problem rating was always likely to be higher. It is a challenge for usas a group I think we are likely to develop in that challenge.
Terrific Britain squad for the visit to Papua New Guinea and New Zealand
