Warren Gatland states Wales are atoptimistic mood before the quarter-final evaluation with France, with beaten Les Blues in seven out of their last eight encounters.
The previous time the two countries met in 2011 in a World Cup, Wales endured a narrow 9-8 defeat in the stage in New Zealand against France.
Gatland, that will leave his character following this years tournament in Japan, believes his team are after four wins from four matches that saw them finish top of Pool D. going into Sundays clash in the Showa Denko Dome, in a place
We have trained well and ready extremely well and go into this game with a lot of assurance, Gatland said.
As coaches and players this is what you do all the hard work and training for. Its to try and get and all for moments to finals.
As a training team we have had a lot of success in large games when it has really counted and mattered, if that has been in Grand Slam matches, European finals or Premiership finals with Wasps, or perhaps on Lions tours as well.
I think weve got a very good formula for a team about getting things correct. Its not only about the physical preparation, its about being right and those top two inches everyone talks about.
If you get that right in large games it can frequently make a big difference. I keep saying were in a good place, weve prepared well and also the groundwork is completed.
At another 24 hours, we will start building nicely, but we cant play the game before we are prepared, and thats critical.
Its all done in the training perspective now. It is down to the players at the following 24 to 48 hours to really take ownership and control, and they have been doing this already this week.
Wales have won 19 out of the past 22 Tests, which included a listing 14-game unbeaten streak, and also their 100 per cent Pool D record was their very best group stage performance at a World Cup since 1987.
Gatland also thinks his side can use their recent successes against Jacques Brunels team, including a 19-24 win away in the Stade de France throughout the 2019 Six Nations, as inspiration going into their clash in Oita.
We keep working hard, and around four of the previous seven tries (Wales scored) against France have been situations where we kept working hard to pursue, and a few of their players has made a mistake and we have capitalised, he further added.
Defensively, (Wales defence coach) Shaun (Edwards) was a little bit more on edge weekly. He is quite pumped up by a perspective.
We have been working hard . He wasnt overly pleased with a try against Uruguay, and that also allowed the players understand clearly from the changing room after.
