England are peaking according to Jonny Wilkinson.

Eddie Jones’ side will be confident of victory after beating Ireland at a listing win at Twickenham in their last match, live on Sky Sports, and face Italy in their final warm-up game on Friday.
England conquer Six Nations champions Wales last month before losing the reverse osmosis at Cardiff and Wilkinson has been impressed with their preparations for the World Cup, which begins in Tokyo.
“They have used the pre-season brightly, the warm-up games,” said Wilkinson. “They’re almost peaking and also have obtained momentum moving on, which is excellent.
“Every game appears to have a real intention and objective about the reason why they’re playing it, which staff they are picking and the reason why they’re choosing it.
“It is not just a case of’Let’s see whether we could win a couple of games’, it’s more’Let us go and see what we’re capable of, put some things into practice that we’ve been working on in camp’.
“The guys look excited, refreshing and physically prepared. I believe this is going to be key going in today, that they don’t do too much but do enough to maintain a certain state of mind come the very first match.”
England stay the northern hemisphere country to have won the World Cup, with Wilkinson famously blowing off at his side.
England may face Australia in the quarter-finals of this year’s tournament and Wilkinson has supported the current generation if they hit the final four, to go all the way.
“The obstacle for me was constantly quarter-finals,” he said. “The championship was always split into two stages – the Pool stage along with the latter phases but now I feel that the quarter-final retains an interesting position.
“Two of the World Cups I was involved we left at the quarter-final and the others went right to the closing. That’s the turning point, for me.
“When you hit this semi-final stage there is a certain degree of allowing things to go the way they are. We constantly felt powerful about semi-finals, where it finishes nearly like that is not.
“But the quarter-final is the point where you come from this group phases and people believe’this is not enough, it is insufficient’, semi-final is the place you believe if you get there you are moving.
“I would love to see that a few northern hemisphere names because semi-final attraction and certainly to see among them in the final will be nice. When it had been England I’d be even happier.”
