Australia Test captain Tim Paine has scored his second outstanding hundred – 13 years after his initial.
The hit 121 for Tasmania from Western Australia in The WACA at the Sheffield Shield as he handed three figures for the first time since 2006.
Paine struck 215 at The WACA in what had been his match, 13 years ago but had to wait till his match – along with a further 4,738 times – the next century.
Present Australia coach Justin Langer was opening the batting for Western Australia when Paine notched his eponymous first-class hundred.
Following the series finished 2-2, paine captained Australia to an Ashes retention against England that summer.
But he passed just once in 10 innings, hitting 58 and also averaged only 20.
David Warner fared even worse at the Ashes, averaging 9.50 after scoring only 95 runs in 10 knocks, adding three studs in a row, but returned to make this week with 125 to New South Wales from Queensland.
But Steve Smith, who managed 774 runs in seven Ashes innings in 110.57 and only failed to pass once, was outside for a duck in exactly the same game.
