The sole goal was scored by david Luiz as Arsenal edged Bournemouth to move up to third in the Premier League.
Luiz glanced home Nicolas Pepes ninth-minute corner for his first goal since his summer arrival.
Bournemouth went close through Callum Wilson and improved after the break, however Bernd Leno from the Arsenal goal seldom troubled.
While Bournemouth remain 10th the Gunners move together with the triumph above Burnley Leicester and Crystal Palace.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang went close in the opening stages and hit the post late on, but those chances bookended a game of few chances.
With Arsenal they were able to apply some pressure from the closing stages, although bournemouth provided small as an attacking threat.
By turning a low cross by Callum Wilson, who fired straight in Leno at stoppage time only a tackle from Matteo Guendouzi prevented Joshua King.
A fourth win of the year means Arsenal go into the international break in the Champions League places having lost just once in eight league matches though they were far from their best.
However, while Unai Emery has to be delighted with the way his side battled to the triumph, he will know there is still space for progress, with a failure to score another goal this game was a lot closer than it could have been after their first-half functionality.
Emerys side moved close within the opening five minutes when Aubameyang fired just wide after good work by Bukayo Saka and Dani Ceballos and started brightly.
They did not need to wait to start the scoring, however, with Pepes corner from the right finding Luiz at the near post, along with also his header went beyond Aaron Ramsdale into the corner.
Martin Atkinson waved away the appeals, together with his conclusion, although arsenal thought they had decent claims for a penalty when Pepe went down by Diego Rico.
The Gunners then faded badly in the second half, as his side revealed 10 changes in the 4-0 Europa League victory on Standard Liege on 33, although tiredness can not be blamed by Emery.
Emery responded by bringing on 18-year-old Gabriel Martinelli for Pepe, that has one aim in 10 appearances since his team album #72m signing transfer from Lille in the summer.
Martinelli, who scored two goals in Thursdays triumph fired over a curling effort from just inside the area and revealed flashes of grade, but this was an success instead of one assembled on banning flair.
Bournemouth have found little joy in matches against Arsenal, taking four points out of eight meetings and losing all their previous trips into the Emirates with an aggregate score of 13-2.
There were few positive signs for Cherries fans at the opening period here , since the Arsenal backline was threatened by them.
Bournemouths first chance was a Dominic Solanke header in the corner that went wide, one of two rolls during the first 45 minutes by a Cherries player at the Arsenal penalty spot.
Eddie Howes side also looked vulnerable together with Luiz, by set-pieces to compound matters.
It means the club remain with no clean sheet this season and have 1 shutout stretching back into the last campaign.
That will be of concern to Howe, however, he will be happy with his players response after the break.
They had a decent opportunity early in the second half when Callum Wilson found himself in on goal, but the England striker was drawn following rounding Leno wide and Calum Chambers was able to clear his low cross at the far post with King lurking.
Leno needed to be attentive to trick Jack Staceys cross-shot within the bar while Philip Billing curled an effort wide from space as Arsenal clung on.
That finish will be a positive to remove for the traffic, although Howe will wonder why it required his players 45 minutes to jolt into action.
More to follow.
