2019 Cincinnati Masters Odds & Picks: Djokovic Favored to RepeatPCMAX

We’re going to find a star-studded field in the 2019 Western & Southern Open as most of the biggest names will be on hand. On the men’s side, we’ll see No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic and No. 3 Roger Federer. For both Djokovic and Federer, it’s our very first look since Wimbledon. Is a good bet ?
*Odds taken August 12, 2019
Djokovic is the defending champion at this event since he beat Roger Federer in the 2018 final 6-4, 6-4. Surprisingly, it was his very first name at this event, which is astonishing because he’s been in the last six occasions in total.
The concern is that Djokovic has flourished here of late. Yeshe got the win in 2018 but was absent at each of the two decades prior, then he dropped in the final, lost in the next round and dropped in the quarters at each one of the three previous decades. Overall, his record is merely 32-11 at this championship. He is tied by the 11 declines .
At exactly the identical time, nobody is playing with him to the hard courts right now. He’s 33-3 on hard courts because the start of 2018 (not like indoor). He’s the player.
There aren’t many serious dangers here. Dominic Thiem is the No. 4 seed however he’s a clay-court specialist. Stefanos Tsitsipas is a clandestine 20-year-old with a shot but a loss to Nick Kyrgios from the semis in the Citi Open and to Hubert Hurkacz in his very first game at the Rogers Cup indicates he’s not a real threat.
Then there is Kei Nishikori, who lost in his first game at the Rogers Cup, Alex Zverev, who is much better on clay, also Karen Kachanov, who’s only 18-17 on the year.
Out of the longer shots, a player like Kevin Anderson is capable of astonishing since he plays on hard courts but he’s been injured annually. Marin Cilic is an option but he is just 13-11 about the year. Who’s there to bet in this tournament apart from the Big Three?
This is a key tune-up for the U.S. Open later this month, so I am expecting Djokovic’s’A’ game here. He’s been off since Wimbledon and should be fresh.
Federer is a choice as he has won the event seven times but he’s much better on grass than hard courts. He is 29-5 in his last 34 to the hard courts; he is 11-1 in his final 12 on bud.
With Nadal pulling from the competition after only winning the Rogers Cup on the weekend, so that makes this tournament Djokovic’s to lose in my novels.
Let us keep it civil and have fun.
